Ameena Saiyid formally launches Lightstone Publishers in Pakistan

A new Pakistani publishing company called Lightstone Publishers was formally launched in Karachi on Monday.

“Now schools in Pakistan will have textbooks that are world-class and yet affordable and based on the Pakistani context, values, history and culture and cover our curriculum,” Ameena Saiyid, the publisher managing director of Lighstone Publishers, was quoted as saying in a press release. “Lightstone school textbooks are low-cost, high quality in content, design and production, and readily available throughout Pakistan.”

The launching of Lightstone Publishers was attended by the heads of almost 100 leading schools from Karachi and was streamed live on Facebook.

Shehzad Roy, the prominent Pakistani singer, attended the event as the chief guest.

The publishing house, Lightstone Publishers’ Director Saadia Mirza, said will also be collaborating with Singapore-based publishers to publish to publish the courses in mathematics and science.

“Lightstone Publishers support schools, pupils, and teachers in Pakistan and Pakistani schools in the Middle East by publishing in all the core subjects such as English Language and reading, Urdu language and reading, Social Studies, Maths, Science, Grammar, and Information Technology,” said Mirza.

Beside the course books, the Lightstone Publishers will also be publishing both fiction and non-fiction books by the renowned authors.

“As books from India can no longer be imported, Lighstone Publishers will be filling the void of publishing quality fiction by Pakistani writers,” said Lightstone’s Publishing Director Nadia Ghani.
